>pelican 001 > brendon marczan, 2009 > original artwork > 297mm wide x 420mm high (unframed) > ink on paper a cityboy can be very territorial. he sometimes forgets that nature has its place in the world. i’ve probably learnt to ignore the bats and the cockatoos that swoop and caw in my urban world. but sometimes the Aussie wilderness breaks through… so, I’m looking out a train window one day and I see this pelican. i stare at him, he stares at me. we understand each other. i chug on along the track and he goes back to burying his beak in rich mud. i crack open a Coke Zero. we’re so the same. the black lines are created with ink pen. this artwork is not framed.
