when sketching on the train, i like to stand up. for some reason the movement of the carriage is even worse when sitting, so when i'm standing i'm able to balance on my knees and use them as suspension. challenging myself to create straight lines in difficult environments is fun, and i often choose to start an artwork such as this on the train or even on an international flight.
the challenge of creating an artwork such as this is that it's possible to just keep sketching forever, filling up the entire page with thin lines. i have to feel that its time to stop. the fine lines in this artwork are ink pen. |
