>open up inside > brendon marczan, 2007 > original artwork > 503mm wide x 630mm high (plus white frame and 100mm wide white mount all around) (19.80" x 24.80") > ink + marker on paper on rainy days, i like having national geographic on the tv with no sound while i’m drawing. you don’t need the sound, you can pretty much work out what’s going on: scary animal is trying to catch non-scary animal; animal is running somewhere with animal friends in a sense of urgency; scheming animal is swimming just below water level in murky lake. either way, animals are great to watch. their movements are often quite different to humans and i’m inspired by the way they’re able to shift their bodies for speed and agility. the lines of this artwork are ink pen, the colour and shading is marker.
